What a week in Taghazout actually costs

The camp is the visible line and the most predictable. It is the others that move the bill by half.

  • Best time to visit
    September – April
  • Water temperature
    18 – 22 °C
  • Wave consistency

  • Vibe
    Relaxed, authentic

People compare surf camps on the nightly rate, and it is the least decisive line in the budget. Here is what a week really costs, and where the money actually goes.

The order of magnitude

ItemRange over 7 nightsNote
Camp265 – 315 €entry rates observed, 38 to 45 € a night
Spending on the ground280 – 490 €40 to 70 € a day, meals and extras
Flightvery variablethis is where it is decided
Equipment0 – 100 €often included, worth checking

The gap between the cheapest and the dearest documented camp is 50 € over the week. That is less than a baggage supplement on a flight. Choosing a camp on price is the wrong optimisation.

The flight decides the budget. The camp decides the week. Those are not the same stakes, and they are treated as one far too often.

What the season does to the total

Prices follow demand, and demand follows the school calendar more than the swell.

PeriodPricesCrowdsSurf rating
November – Februaryhighhighexcellent
July – Augusthighhighpoor
October and Marchmediummediumgood
April – Maylowlowgood to fair

Paying the high rate in August for 0.9 m of swell is the worst trade in the calendar: it is the most expensive and busiest month of the year, between Moroccan and European school holidays. October and March are the best compromise, April and May the best price.

The lines people forget

  • The airport transfer. Agadir is 45 minutes away. Included in some camps, billed in others.
  • The wetsuit. At 18 to 19 °C in winter, a 3/2 is necessary. Weekly hire, almost always available.
  • Extra sessions. A five-session package and the urge to do ten costs money.
  • The board supplement in the hold. Often the dearest item after the flight, and avoidable by hiring on the spot.

Frequently asked

Can a week be done for under 500 € excluding flights?

Yes, by aiming at low season, an entry-level camp and a sober approach to meals. It is not a cut-price week: it is the same swell.

Do I need cash?

Bring some. Cards work in the establishments, far less in small shops and taxis.

Do the advertised prices include lessons?

Rarely in full. Always compare whole weeks, with the number of coached sessions written down.
